BELLE ARTI PRIZE - MELBOURNE | 2012

Just in time I finished my entry for the BELLE ARTI PRIZE, currently showing in Melbourne at the Chapman & Bailey Gallery. The painting is called " Leipzig keeps on stalking me" and refers to the painterly influences of Leipzig in East Germany, where I lived for over 11 years.
You might be able to spot the work in one of the pictures below, and for a full tour of the show; click on the Chapman & Bailey Website or go to their Facebook Page.

YOU CAN'T HIDE FROM PAINTING | CIRCLE ART GROUP EXHIBITION | 2012

Two of my works < " I went to a Picasso Exhibition and this is what I saw"> and < " Lifetrap">  were recently shown at the Circle Art Group Exhibition at Community Arts on Gondoon. The Opening Night was very well attended and I answered a lot of questions in regard to my work. People also shared their interpretations of the works and the feelings they invoked in them. It is always interesting to hear what people think, and how they view the work in comparison to my own perception of it. Often the audience is able to see a hidden meaning in the painting, which at the time is not clear to me...
Almost every time though, after reflecting on the comments of the audience, I have to agree with them on their interpretation of the work...especially when I look at the time and circumstances where the work got created. I find this process highly fascinating and intriguing, because it does uncover these invisible elements....elements we as artists aren't even aware of, at the time of creation.
You can't hide from the wonderful, exhilarating and often challenging, but most amazing thing...that is PAINTING.

Got Company...

Always nice to have some company in the studio...looks like they were on a real rampage;-)
It is interesting to notice, that when I am working in the studio one or both of them will  drop in,
to check out what I am doing and to find out if there's a slight chance to own the studio couch for
               the evening...

.
And sometimes they even create their own artworks, as it is clearly shown in the photo! One can
still see the pencil next to the sketchbook...  Isn't that amazing? Seems like we're helping each
other out in terms of creativity. And according to this article, they make me live like Royalty.
Thank  you, E and F... I owe you!
